Backyard Garden
South Park, CA.
This project included the installation of irrigation, sod, decomposed granite, mulch, hog wire cedar fencing with 3 pedestrian gates, 3 redwood raised garden beds, 30 flower and vegetable starts, 2 fruit trees and one jasmine vine.
The homeowners of this landscape dreamed of a clean natural setting that included fruit trees, a flower bed and a place to grow vegetables. Our first step in the project included demolishing what seemed to be a 50 year old concrete slab along with some picket vinyl fencing and the existing overgrown grass. Once we demo’d all the existing materials out we installed the irrigation for the sprinklers and garden beds. After that we began the construction of the garden beds. The garden beds all have drip irrigation with a timer and are back filled with top soil and 4-6” of organic vermicompost based potting soil. Then we constructed the hog wire fencing with cedar posts and a natural cedar oil stain finish. The final steps included planting flowers, vegetables, fruit trees and topping the garden with organic vermicompost.
